To drive better economic growth, New Zealand based transport agency- CityEdge Alliance, part of Fletcher Construction, leading infrastructure, commercial, engineering and building contractor company has partnered with ECAT for EHS management software for health and safety, HSE and environmental compliance for Waikato Expressway Hamilton Section.
The complexity of this project lies in the overall scale brings bigger challenges. It includes excavation work of 1,44, 000 cubic metre of soil to cut the expressway and take appropriate measures of Health and Safety, HSE and environmental compliance. There was a crucial need of a seamless system to manage and automate various audits for compliance including health and safety, JSEA review, permit to work excavation, mobile plant inspection, earth moving competency verification and HSE compliance.
With the collaboration with ECAT, the completion of final piece of Hamilton section will enable several benefits of the expressway to be realised, like: reduction in the number of fatal and serious injury crashes, lowered costs and emissions and eventually contributing to better economic growth.

To enhance these regional economies, it requires efficient transport networks and faster commute of goods, people and freight. The company is delivering the Waikato Expressway as a package of several projects since last fifteen years.
The Hamilton section is the largest roading project in Waikato connecting several regions of the north and south. Estimated to be completed by 2020, CityEdge Alliance will be constructing Hamilton section expressway for 102 km. The project also involves construction of 17 bridges crossing nine local roads, three deep gullies and a busy railway line carrying 30- 40 trains a day from Tauranga region.
